In April 2025, these two new Italian standards were introduced. They apply to safety nets designed to catch and contain objects that may fall from above, providing protection for workers and for people staying or passing beneath a hazardous area.
SAFETY NETS COMPLIANT WITH UNI 11808-3
TYPE “O1” SYSTEM
Standard UNI 11808-3 governs type “O1” safety nets, intended to protect against the fall of small objects, and sets out the following technical requirements:
- The nets must have a short side of no less than 2 m and a long side of no less than 4 m (minimum size: 4 × 2 m).
- They must be designed to be positioned at a vertical distance of no more than 4 m from the object that may fall.
